This large room fills with natural light in the day and bathes you in a calm, cool glow at night.
This smaller room is a favourite of many clients. In the spring, baby birds can be heard in the nest outside the window.
There are two treatment tables in this large room. Whether it's a mom and a daughter, a pair of best friends, or spouses, many clients love the convenience of having the option of booking together.
Cozy, or spacious, this area allows for clients to choose how open or closed the space feels. There is a also a reclining chair for those who prefer to sit up during acupuncture.
This is me, Andrea, in our makeshift acupuncture clinic at the orphanage, Pajarito Azul, Managua, Nicaragua, 2007.
The entryway, Pajarito Azul Orphanage, Managua, Nicaragua. This home for uniquely challenged children and adult orphans is staffed by some of the most inspiring doctors and caregivers I have ever met.
Our translators, Jania and Angel, gave us the incredible gift of traveling to the small village of Jinoqiao to offer acupuncture. I was humbled by the strength and kindness of this tight knit community.
Thanks to our translator Jania Teare's fundraising efforts, we were able to travel with these children for a rare day at the beach! Flip flops and wheelchairs… that says it all.
A visit to Guangxi TCM University in 2010, as part of an exchange with MacEwan University. I worked to improve my acupuncture skills and learn more about Chinese culture.
Early in the morning each day, I would hand a piece of paper with the Chinese characters on it to a taxi driver and hope I ended up at the right hospital. I was always afraid of being late for class!
To deepen our understanding of Chinese herbology, we were allowed to investigate a museum dedicated to the preservation of plants used in medicine.
A sunny day, standing on the Great Wall of China. An incredible view and a trip of a lifetime!
